About Us

Pentecost Lutheran Church, contrary to the name, is a member of the LCMS, or Lutheran Church Missouri Synod. With the universal Christian Church, The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod teaches and responds to the love of the Triune God: The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

We at PLC accept and preach the Bible-based teachings of Martin Luther that inspired the reformation of the Christian Church in the 16th century. The teaching of Luther and the reformers can be summarized in three phrases: Grace alone, Faith alone, Scripture alone.

Our Story

Pentecost Lutheran Church was founded on Pentecost Sunday, May 31, 1908 by a group of Slovak speaking immigrants from Austria-Hungary (now Slovakia). Since then it has been a solid part of the Racine community, from its birth on Howe St to the current location on Coolidge Ave.

Today, Pentecost holds dear to its cultured past while embracing its contemporary additions. On any given Sunday, passersby can hear the powerful sound of a full worship band (organ, trumpets, flutes, etc.) playing hymns from both the Lutheran Service Hymnal and the "Hymns of Pentecost". We hope to worship with you soon!
