Lector (Reader) Schedule

What is a "Lector" and what does a "Lector" do?

A Lector is simply a someone who reads the Old Testament and Epistle lessons (readings) on a particular Sunday in front of the congregation, generally using a hand held wireless microphone.  It is important to use the microphone and make sure both of the on/off switches (there are two) are in the "on" position, as the hearing enhancement system which some of our members use only works if the reader is using one of our microphones -- the hearing enhancement system gets its feed directly from our sound system.  It also makes it a lot easier for the rest of us to hear the reader.  The readings are generally typed out and provided to the readers in advance so that they have a chance to review them before reading in front of the congregation.

Being a reader is an excellent way to serve the congregation and become actively involved in the worship service, especially if you do not mind speaking in front of people.  If you are interested in becoming a reader, please let Sue Hasko know.
