A total of $6,735.00 was collected for the “Grandma Elaine’s” fund. The monies were split between LHS and Concordia Elementary School. Tom had suggested that we look into the Siebert Foundation for a grant for our elevator. Tim went on their website and answered questions to see if we are eligible for a grant. If we are eligible we have to fill out the application. That application is due by March 1, 2011. Letters were written for the 4 recipients of the tithe from the Anne Sovish memorial- LHS, Concordia Elementary School, Pastor Biber mission trip and LIM (Lutheran India Mission). Letters were sent out along with their checks.
Treasurer’s Report: Kathy discussed the current interest rates in our accounts. She will research other options (like CD’s) that might give us more interest. Kathy will discuss the information with Tim and Mike. Our Church Mutual Insurance now offers terrorism insurance for $36.00 per year. It was voted, seconded and passed to add this to our policy.

We have been approved by the city of Racine and the State of Wisconsin to begin the process. We have been waived to re-do the bathrooms. The water fountain in the fellowship hall is not working-Mary will look into it. Sue Hasko said that the electrical outlets in the church and narthex do not hold the plugs in. Cords keep falling out. Mary will look into this.
Education’s Report: The children’s Christmas program went well. A Baptism Birthday Celebration is being worked on. The date will be announced soon.
Missions & Evangelism: Mary read a note from Janet. Janet asked if she can plan the spring rummage sale for April 30th. Council approved the date. Also “First Friday” for February will be February 4th.

Old Business: We are still working on getting rid of the 2 pianos.
Pastor’s Report: Robin Paris (Gifts Planning Counselor) will be here on January 30th after church. She will be doing a presentation and will be available for a one on one to discuss your financial gift giving options. Pastor asked for prayers for both LHS and Concordia for their financial difficulties. We will have 9 confirmands this year. Confirmation will be on Palm Sunday- April 17th. Pastor is trying to get Martha Burman to do a “Martha’s Monthly Review” on movies she watches and reviews. A member had asked Pastor if we can have a “new member’s corner” in the newsletter because of all the new members. Pastor wants us to have more bible studies for those who cannot make Sunday or Thursday mornings. He is looking for people to lead and host a bible study. If you are interested in either, just contact Pastor.
New Business: Spring cleaning needs to be done. There are chairs in Kathy’s Sunday School room that will be placed in the spring rummage sale.
